Turkish foreign minister meets Balkan officials

Turkey's foreign minister on Sept. 13 separately met with the recently appointed high representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the Serbian president of the National Assembly.

In a Twitter post, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said: "Pleased to host Christian Schmidt, recently appointed High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina."

UNHCR grateful for Turkey's strong partnership: Official

The U.N. refugee agency, UNHCR, "is grateful for its strong partnership" with Turkey, an official said on Sept. 8. 


Filippo Grandi, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, arrived in Turkey for a working visit on Sept. 7 and was received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday.

Turkey, Egypt desire to make progress in areas under discussion

Turkey and Egypt have agreed to continue their consultations confirming their desire to make progress in areas under discussion and the need for further steps to facilitate normalization of their relations, a foreign ministry statement said on Sept. 8 after two-days long reconciliation talks.


Turkish FM warns against civil war in Afghanistan

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu warned against a possible civil war in Afghanistan and expressed Turkey's will to contribute to peace and stability in the country.


Elaborating on the Taliban's future government, the minister emphasized that the international community should take a wait-and-see approach before recognizing its rule.

Turkey, Serbia working on passport-free travel, says minister

Turkey's foreign minister on Aug. 31 announced that his country is working with Serbia on passport-free travel for citizens of both countries.


Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu's remarks came after a joint news conference with his counterpart Nikola Selakovic in the Serbian capital Belgrade.
