Large families facilitate virus spread in Turkish city Van: Governor
Large families, customs and traditions facilitate the spread of the coronavirus in the eastern province of Van, according to Governor Emin Bilmez.
There have been at least 480 confirmed cases, while 18,000 people are presently under quarantine in the province which has a population of around 1.1 million.
A total of 66,000 residents of Van had undergone quarantine so far.
US coronavirus death toll exceeds 100,000: Study
The death toll in the U.S. from the novel coronavirus surpassed the 100,000 mark on May 27, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
The Maryland-based university counted 100,047 deaths and 1,695,776 cases.
The U.S. continues to lead in cases and deaths worldwide from the virus.

Coronavirus latest: Romania's total caseload rises by 198 to 17,585
A number of 198 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last last update, bringing the total case count to 17,585, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Thursday. Of the people confirmed positive, 10,581 have been declared cured and discharged from hospital. As many as 203 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.
People under virus risk to be tested regularly
Turkey is planning to move to another phase in tests for the coronavirus by identifying occupation and age groups at most risk.
The authorities are hoping that the results of massive immunity analysis of the population will help them map out the cluster of vulnerable groups.

Two ambulance service workers test positive for Covid-19
Thirty workers in Greece's ambulance service (EKAV) were quarantined on Wednesday after two of their colleagues tested positive for Covid-19.
This is the third infection in EKAV after another worker was found positive on March 16.
Health minister warns of ‘butterfly effect’ of virus spread
Any complacency in the fight against the coronavirus may have serious consequences for the entire country, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has warned, referring to the "butterfly effect."
"A small event may trigger a chain of events as the spread of the coronavirus, which generated from China's Wuhan, to the entire world," Koca wrote on Twitter.
