Total number of persons infected with novel coronavirus jumps to 19,669

The total number of the Romanians infected with the novel coronavirus increased to 19,669, as another 152 people have been found positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) informs on Wednesday. Of the people confirmed infected, 13,800 were declared cured and discharged from the medical units. 162 patients are being treated in intensive care wards.

Romania's COVID-19 death toll rises by 9 to 1,288

Nine more people infected with the novel coronavirus have died in Romania, bringing the total death toll to 1,288, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday. Guard at Evros border tests positive for coronavirus

A border guard serving in the region of Evros in northeastern Greece has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, local media reported on Tuesday.

Evros-news.gr said that the unnamed guard, a Soufli local who was serving at the town's border post, was rushed to the General University Hospital of Alexandroupoli on Monday after colleagues became concerned for his health.

Coronavirus latest: Romania's total caseload rises by 119 to 19,517

A number of 119 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the last update, bringing the total case count to 19,517, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Tuesday. Of the infected persons, 13,526 have been declared cured and discharged from hospital. As many as 166 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.

Tsiodras inaugurates speaker series at CoE Committee of Ministers

Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, known to the wider Greek public as the Health Ministry's spokesman for the novel coronavirus, was the first speaker in a series initiated by Alternate Foreign Affairs Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis as chairman of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers.
