The United States has extended the deployment of a brigade from the 101st Airborne Division in Romania for nine months, beginning in January 2023, the New York Times reported, citing representatives of the US administration.

NATO Chief Opens New Unit in Romania
NATO's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was due in Romania on Thursday on his first official visit, to discuss consolidation of the Alliance's capacities on its eastern flank and open a NATO Force Integration Unit, NFIU.
Stoltenberg was due to meet President Klaus Iohannis, acting Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea and the Foreign and Defence ministers.

Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, and General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, on Tuesday are set to attend the Distinguished Visitors day (DV-day) part of the Wind Spring 5 multinational exercise to be carried out at the Smardan Training Area, Galati County, reads a press release of the MApN.

NATO Begins Military Exercise in Romania
The multinational exercise Wind Spring 15, involving troops from Romania, the United States, Britain and Moldova, began on Thursday at the Mihail Kogalniceanu air base near the Black Sea port of Constanta and the at the Smardan Polygon in Galati.
