Vulin: Croatia's border closure represents racism

Aleksandar Vulin, minister of labour, employment, veteran and social policy of Serbia, has qualified the Croatian Government's decision to close the border cro?ings for the vehicles with Serbian registration plates as racism.

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said on Thursday Serbia "did not honor an agreement" when it introduced countermeasures toward Croatia.

Ivica Dacic says Croatia "has not learned lessons from the problems so far" while the Croatian prime minister "continues to provoke Serbia with his statements."

The Serbian foreign minister and first deputy prime minister added that "the words of Zoran Milanovic do not contribute to solving the problems."

Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic on Tuesday dismissed Croatian claims that Serbia was deliberately redirecting refugees towards Croatia instead of Hungary, which closed its borders to refugees last week.

Serbia cannot alter the routes used by refugees and limit their freedom of movement in the country, he said.

The refugee crisis is not threatening the security of Croatia, "but it creates a problem," Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic has said.

Croatia "has a heart, but must remind its neighbors and the EU that it also has a brain," he told an extraordinary news conference on Friday.

After more than 13,300 refugees from Syria and Iraq entered Croatia from Serbia on Wednesday and Thursday, Croatia temporarily closed the border with Serbia on Thursday night. The biggest border passing, Batrovci, is still open for traffic.
