Last general of 1980 coup in Turkey laid to rest

Turkey's last general from the country's bloody 1980 coup era was laid to rest in Istanbul on Saturday, having passed away two days ago at the age of 90.

Following a military ceremony, Tahsin ?ahinkaya was buried in Karacaahmet Cemetery following the noon prayer and a funeral ceremony at Selimiye Mosque, which was attended by a large number of high-ranking officers.

Man, 73, dies in Turkish brothel

A 73-year-old man has died while in the arms of a prostitute in western Turkey, Do?an News Agency reported.

The man, identified as Mustafa K., visited a brothel in the Ayd?n province on June 5, the report said. He fainted shortly after he entered a room with a prostitute, who quickly called an ambulance.

He slept at a folded military camp bed, even in times of peace. He never slept long any way; he even considered spending time in bed as a waste (except for reasons other than sleeping, but that is another story) and always woke up at daybreak. Considering that he led some 60 battles, there is no wonder that his campaign bed was his comfort zone.  

Historical carpet lost at museum

An 89-year-old carpet, which was gifted to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during his trip to the western province of U?ak, was lost at the newly restored Atatürk Museum.

The museum underwent restoration in 2013 and reopened last month. One of six historical cotton U?ak carpets, the 12-meter-squared carpet was lost during the restoration work.
