200 mln liras jackpot hit four quarter tickets

Most New Year’s lottery tickets sold in Istanbul

Istanbul is taking the lead in the ticket sales of the New Year's lottery with a prize money of 120 million Turkish Liras ($8.8 million), daily Milliyet has reported.

The western province of İzmir, the northwestern province of Kocaeli and the capital Ankara follow Istanbul in the ticket sales, the daily reported on Dec. 8.

The picture of a pile of 80 million Turkish Liras of cash, roughly $13.5 million, has excited millions of Turkish citizens, who are rushing to buy traditional New Year's Eve lottery tickets.

The grand prize was presented to the public at a Vakıf Bank branch in Ankara on Dec. 25.

Turkey to formally advertise new tender for national lottery privatization on May 6: Minister

Turkey will formally advertise a tender to privatize its national lottery on May 6 and plans to take an initial bid for the tender on Aug. 5, said the finance minister on May 4. 

The licenses for the National Lottery Directorate, dubbed Milli Piyango in Turkish, will last for 10 years, Finance Minister Naci A?bal said at a press conference in Ankara.        

Net Holding signs casino management deal in Montenegro

Turkey's Net Holding has signed a casino management agreement with Casino Avala d.o.o to operate a casino in Budva, Montenegro, the company announced in a written statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) late on Dec. 14. 

The agreement will be for five years, while the casino space covered by the deal is 2,000 square meters in total, according to the statement. 

Turkish main opposition party deputy claims rigging at national lottery

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Atilla Kart, citing a note from a former staff member, has claimed large-scale rigging was in action at Milli Piyango, Turkey's now-privatized national lottery, providing large amounts of money to the employees.

The "confession" confirms the allegations made in a 2012 parliamentary question he raised, Kart said Feb. 6.
