Hoteliers struggling to find workers amid labor shortage

Although tourism activity has rebounded with the COVID-19 pandemic-related troubles put behind, the industry is now facing another problem: Labor shortage.

Turkish hoteliers are trying to overcome this problem by hiring workers from other nations, such as Turkic countries and even from Indonesia, even though this costs them more.

The salary raise challenge

Setting the minimum salary at 950 euros per month, from €780 today, and the average at €1,500 from €1,176.5 in end-2022 and €1,184 in end-May, is one of the key objectives of New Democracy, which is widely expected to win another four-year term in the elections this Sunday.

Restrictions on retail lending to be eased in July

The Slovenian central bank will relax its restrictions on retail lending in July to make loans more accessible to individuals whose earnings range from minimum to average pay.

The minimum level of creditworthiness, now set at 76% of the gross minimum wage, will be based on the level of essential living expenses, while taking into account certain additional factors.
