Chilean miner and rescue team head blame safety measures for Soma disaster
Two Chileans who experienced the widely reported mine accident in Copiapo four years ago have blamed the Turkish authorities for not adopting the necessary safety measures at the Soma mine, where 301 workers were killed in a mining disaster on May 13.

Romania Puts Controversial Gold Mine on Hold
Romania’s lower chamber, the Chamber of Deputies, on Tuesday overhelmingly rejected a mining law that would have enabled Canada’s Gabriel Resources to start a controversial gold mining project in central Transylvania.
Last September, the centre-left government of Victor Ponta sent a bill to parliament to approve the project to dig for gold in Rosia Montana.

Coal mine collapse in eastern Turkey
One worker was trapped under wreckage when a coal mine collapsed in the southeastern province of Åırnak earlier on June 3.
The mine collapsed due to an unknown reason at around 12:30 p.m.
A search and rescue team has been sent to the scene.

Miners supposed to be in training perished in Soma disaster
Seven miners who were supposed to be receiving professional training during the Soma disaster were among the 301 perished workers, a company document has unveiled.
The document said the miners were at a work safety and health class, raising questions as to whether these courses had ever taken place or if they were only on paper.
‘State firm and greed responsible’ for Soma, association head says
The state-run Turkish Coal Enterprises (TKÄ°) is the body primarily responsible for the May 13 Soma mine disaster, which took 301 lives, according to the head of the Aegean regionâs mining companiesâ association.
