The teenager who pulled out her cellphone and began recording when she saw George Floyd being pinned to the ground by a Minneapolis police officer was given a special citation by the Pulitzer Prizes on June 11 for her video that helped to launch a global movement to protest racial injustice.

The $500 apple: Woman Fined For Failing to Declare Fruit She Was Given on Flight

A woman from Colorado has been fined $500 (£360) after failing to declare an apple that she took from a transatlantic flight.

Crystal Tadlock was given the fruit sealed in a wrapper on her Delta flight from Paris to Minneapolis on 18 April. She did not eat it on the journey and decided to save it for her connecting flight to Denver.

Easter opening hours for major retailers

The association of supermarket chains and retailers at department stores and shopping centers (SELPE) announced its members will be open for business on Sunday, April 1, as is usual on the last Sunday before Greek Easter.

From Monday to Thursday next week (April 2-5) stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Good Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Minnesotans want to replace Christopher Columbus statue with one of Prince

Over 2,000 people from Minnesota have signed a petition to replace the Columbus statue with a Prince one.
At a time when statues and memorials of Confederate leaders are coming down across the United States, a group of Minnesotans has decided it’s time for another controversial monument to go: the Columbus statue in St. Paul.

Easter week shopping hours announced

The SELPE association of Greek retail businesses on Tuesday announced opening hours for the week leading up to Greek Orthodox Easter Sunday.

According to the announcement, shops (including supermarkets) will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Thursday next week.

More woes for commuters as transport stoppages continue

Disruptions in public transport services are set to continue this week as workers' unions protest the government's privatization plans. On Monday, November 21, ISAP electric railway services will be halted up to 10 a.m., while on Tuesday, November 22, no services are expected on the Athens metro and tram between noon and 4 p.m.
