Russia lunched a new exoatmospheric anti-satellite missile last week. The missile is capable of destroying US strategic satellites.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin has called for "reinforcing the country's military nuclear potential."

"We need to strengthen the military potential of strategic nuclear forces, especially with missile complexes that can reliably penetrate any existing and prospective missile defense systems," Putin said.

The Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Işık has reviewed a test for Turkey-made medium-altitude air defense missile Hisar-O which is expected to meet the needs of the Turkish Land Forces Command.         

"We have many systems developed by Roketsan and Havelsan corporations," Işık told the project's engineers after a test was conducted in the Central Anatolian province of Aksaray. 

Turkey is in talks with Russia on the potential purchase of S-400 air missile defense systems, Turkish Defence Minister Fikri Işık said on Nov. 18, adding that Ankara was also in touch with other countries on missile defense.

Turkey's doors are open to any country willing to cooperate with the country technically in producing air defense systems for the use of the Turkish Armed Forces, the head of the defense industry body has said, without ruling out the direct procurement of the systems until they can develop a national model. 

Russia has unveiled the very first image of a new super-heavy thermonuclear-armed intercontinental ballistic missile, the RS-28 Sarmat. The Sarmat, designed to be fitted with a hypersonic glider warhead, is expected to go into production as early as 2018.
