Moldovan constitutional referendum

 Voter activity was nearing 20% in a national referendum Bulgaria is holding alongside local elections, a polling agency has said.

Bulgarians are asked to have a say on whether online voting should be allowed as a recognized method in elections and nationwide polls.

All referendums held on the same day as elections will be valid if 50% of the participants in the vote also answer to the referendum question(s), according to a decision of Bulgaria's parliamentary legal committee.

Members of the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee adopted on Tuesday amendments to the Referendum Act lowering the number of citizens' signatures required for initiating national polls.

The Bulgarian MPs decided to lower the number of signatures from 500 000 to 400 000, daily Dnevnik reports.

More than 300,000 signatures have been collected in favour of a referendum on Bulgaria's election rules and procedures.

Estimates from Tuesday morning claim the number has even reached 350,000, according to Bulgarian news agency Mediapool, which cites sources from the referendum's initiative committee.
