Greece denies NYT report of secret 'black site' for migrants near Turkish border

The Greek government dismissed on Wednesday a report in The New York Times newspaper that it was holding illegal migrants who cross the border from Turkey at a secret "black site" where they are denied access to lawyers and cannot file asylum claims.

Greek military releases videos showing border surveillance exercises

The Hellenic National Defense General Staff (GEETHA) on Wednesday released a series of videos showing surveillance exercises in border areas. 

The videos show exercises aimed at turning back undocumented migrants trying to enter Greece, including footage recorded during the night, and exercises on shooting ranges. 

Cyprus Coastguard Detained a Boat with 101 Syrian Citizens

A boat carrying 101 Syrian nationals was detained by the Cyprus's coastguard, Kathimerini reported. This is the highest number of refugees detained in the last month.

The Syrians were transferred to a coastguard ship and taken to a port on the southeast part of the island.

A police spokesman said there were minors onboard and the refugees were likely traveling to Turkey.

The Truck which Was Transporting the Migrants to Greece Is from Pazardzhik

The refrigerated truck with illegal migrants in Greece is registered in Pazardzhik. The interior minister announced that truck had left Bulgaria at the end of October. The route for migrants is from Turkey to Northern Greece, NOVA reported.

According to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, each of the migrants paid € 2,500 to reach Thessaloniki.

Not even 15 years

So, instead of life, special police guard Epaminondas Korkoneas got 13 years. Not even 15 to match the age of his victim, Alexis Grigoropoulos, to represent - if only symbolically - each year of a life that was so violently terminated on December 6, 2008, on Tzavella Street in the downtown Athens neighborhood of Exarchia.
