Mother, brother of dead publisher in suspected suicide pact

The mother and brother of Panagiotis Mavrikos, the Akropolis newspaper publisher who died in a car accident in 2016, on Wednesday plunged into the sea off a pier in Drapetsona in what authorities believe to be a suicide pact.

Sofia Mavrikou, 76, and Theodoros Mavrikos, 53, fell into the sea in their car at 11.30 on Wednesday morning, with the two family dogs in the vehicle. 

Teen death in amusement park attributed to excessive speed

The fatal fall of a 14-year-old girl from the "flying carpet" of an amusement park near the town of Almyros in Volos central Greece on August 30 was the result of the ride's excessive speed, a probe has found.
The probe, published over the weekend, found that the ride's engine produces 123 horsepower instead of 15 hp as declared to authorities.

Bus Plunges into Black Sea in Russia, Killing 14 People

At least 14 people were killed in southern Russia when a bus plunged into the Black Sea on Friday, Russian investigators said, quoted by Reuters. 

Eight more people were injured, five of whom were in a serious condition, Interfax news agency reported, citing the emergency ministry which carried out rescue works.
