North Macedonia Frees Kosovo Ex-Guerrilla Wanted by Serbia

Former KLA fighter Tomor Morina was released from detention and returned to Kosovo on Wednesday afternoon after North Macedonia's Supreme Court earlier the same day ruled that there were no legal grounds for his extradition to Serbia.

Kosovo's Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli welcomed the release.

Former member of so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) Morina was arrested at the north of North Macedonia, on the border crossing Blace on July 24, under the Interpol warrant that was issued on Serbia's request.

The Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office told BIRN on Thursday that it suspects detained former Kosovo Liberation Army member Tomor Morina of involvement in war crimes against civilians in the Djakovica/Gjakova area of Kosovo from January to June 1999.

Morina was arrested in North Macedonia on Wednesday on a Serbian warrant.

Croatia confirms extradition of Ismail Morina

The Supreme Court of Croatia has confirmed the first instance decision of a local court to extradite Albanian citizen Ismail Morina to Serbia.

Morina - who flew a drone with a map of "Greater Albania" attached to it during a football game between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade in 2014 - is wanted in Serbia on charges of inciting ethnic and racial hatred.

Albanians Oppose Drone Flyer's Extradition to Serbia

Croatian Supreme Court is yet to decide whether notorious drone flyer Ismail Morina will be sent to Serbia, after a court in Dubrovnik backed Belgrade's extradition request on Thursday.

On Saturday, Albanian football fans protested in front of the Prime Minister's office, urging the authorities to intervene in stopping the extradition.
