2,000-year-old mosaic-decorated villa unearthed in City of Tripolis

An archeological team has unearthed a 12-room villa with mosaic-covered floors and walls decorated with colorful frescoes and vegetative geometric figures in the ancient city of Tripolis located in Turkey's Aegean region. The villa is estimated to be nearly 2,000 years old, according to the head of the excavation team.

Byzantine church found in Muğla's 'city of gladiators'

In the ancient city of Stratonikeia, located in the western province of Muğla's Yatağan district, an early Byzantine-era church and a mosaic floor dating back to 1,500 years have been unearthed. The ancient city has been known as the city of gladiators. The city's restoration has recently been completed and it is also home to an Ottoman-era mosque.

Israeli archaeologists unearth 1,800-year-old mosaic, also featuring Greek inscription

A 1,800-year-old mosaic of toga-clad men dating back to the Roman era has been unearthed in Israel, archaeologists said on Thursday.

The mosaic was discovered during the excavation of a building from the Byzantine period - some 300 years younger than the mosaic it was on top of - in the coastal city of Caesarea.
