Vehicle registrations in Cyprus increased by 45% in January-February 2024, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CyStat) report "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the year's first two months.

The Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat) revealed on Thursday a significant uptick in motor vehicle registrations in Cyprus.

Total registrations of motor vehicles in Cyprus numbered 4,243 in January, compared to 3,128 in January 2023, recording an increase of 35.6%, according to data published by the CyStat.

The number of road motor vehicles registered increased by 10.2 percent in September from a year ago to 102,500, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.

New registrations, however, declined by 8.3 percent from August.

In September, 39 percent of the newly registered vehicles were passenger cars, while motorcycles claimed the second spot at 36.5 percent.

The total number of road motor vehicles registered in the country reached some 25.7 million at the end of May, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUİK) has announced.

More than 1.15 million motor vehicles were registered in Turkey last year, up 11 percent from 2020, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on Jan. 26. 

The number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 11.2 percent to 42,924.
