Severe weather: An apartment building collapses in Athens
A three storey apartment building collapsed due to severe weather on Thursday morning Kamateros, Athens. Authorities tried to remove quickly the building debris since more bad weather is expected tomorrow.

Chilling Mecca stampede leaves more than 700 pilgrims dead (warning: disturbing pics + vids)
The stampede near the holy city of Mecca has left more than 700 people dead during Muslim hajj. Muslims around the world have expressed anger with the Saudi Arabian government’s handling of the Muslim feast bearing in mind that it was just the latest in a number of crowd-control disasters that have left hundreds of thousands of victims dead.

Greeted by enthusiastic supporters, he arrived at 8.15 p.m. and headed to the 7th floor office for the first party meetings.

Capital Controls were slightly eased on Monday when a new decree allowed depositors to withdraw 300 euros per week, as an alternative to 60 euros per day, causing a number of ATM users to rush to the bank on Friday.
Greece on the brink of collapse: Sunday’s deadline to decide euro or “Plan B”
European Council President Donald Tusk said that now was “the most critical moment in the history of the eurozone” as Greece was given until Thursday to present new proposals to secure a deal with creditors. “The final deadline ends this week,” said Tusk after emergency talks in Brussels on Tuesday.

CNN International counted down to Greece’s default – turning a country’s suffering into a media circus. Famous anchorman Richard Quest thought it would be entertaining for global viewers to get a direct telecast of the countdown to midnight when Greece failed to repay its IMF arrears on June 30.
