Two mountaineers defy winter weather to scale Mount Ağrı peak
In a daring feat of mountaineering, two intrepid climbers from Bursa and Ankara, took on an unprecedented challenge in the history of the Türkiye Mountaineering Federation (TDF) and reached the peak of Mount Ağrı in Türkiye's east during treacherous winter conditions.
British climber's remains found in Swiss Alps, 52 years on
The remains of a climber discovered in the Swiss Alps last year have been identified as a British mountaineer who went missing 52 years ago, local police said on Aug. 31.
It is the latest in a series of discoveries of remains of long-missing climbers revealed as the Alp's glaciers melt and recede because of global warming.
Grošelj makes Messner’s Rock & Ice Stars list
Viki Grošelj, the Slovenian mountaineer with the largest number of eight-thousanders under his belt and the first Slovenian to have climbed all the highest peaks of the globe's continents, has made the prestigious Rock & Ice Stars list of names engraved at the entrance to Reinhold Messner's Firmian museum in Bolzano.

Five injured in an avalanche
Five mountaineers were swept by an avalanche while climbing a 2,332-metre peak in the north-west of the country on 9 April in bad weather conditions. No one was killed but three of them sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital.

Search for Tibet avalanche survivors ends, 28 dead
Search and rescue operations after a devastating avalanche that engulfed travellers on a Tibetan highway have ended, Chinese state media reported, with the death toll now at 28.
The snowslide occurred Tuesday evening at the exit of a mountain tunnel in southeastern Tibet, trapping a number of people in their vehicles.

Mountain huts see record footfall, over half foreign visitors
Slovenian mountain huts are looking back at a record season, having reported 120,000 nights spent by hikers by the end of September 2022, which the Alpine Association of Slovenia says is slightly above the record figures posted in 2019.
Mountain huts face water shortages due to drought
Kredarica – Due to a lack of rainfall mountain huts in Slovenia are experiencing water scarcity, including the highest hut Kredarica that sits below Mt Triglav, Slovenia’s tallest peak. Currently, the hut only has water supplies for about ten days, and there has been a cap on bookings for some time.

Rescue workers seek two women in Evia mountains
Rescue workers on Monday continued their search for two women, aged 62 and 60, who went missing on Sunday afternoon after climbing the Kadi mountain near Aliveri on western Evia.
The two sisters set off for the mountain to pick mushrooms, according to their relatives who notified the police when they found their car but could not find the women.

Bulgarian Atanas Skatov Successfully Climbed his 10th Eight-Thousander
On October 3, Bulgarian climber Atanas Skatov summited Dhaulagiri (8,176 m), which the 7th highest mountain in the world, BNT reported.
This is the tenth eighth-thousander the 41-year-old Bulgarian climbed after his ascent of Kanchengjong (8,586 m) on May 15, Gasherbrum I (8080 M0 on July 12 and Gasherbrum II (8035 m) on July 18th.
Bodies of two Serbian mountaineers found, and a vehicle with Belgrade licence plates
As the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS) - Foca area reports, they got the information on the disappearance of the Serbian citizens from the Republic Civil Protection Administration and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska, while the bodies were found yesterday, around 5 pm, at 1,700 meters above sea level.
