Bulgaria's Main Ruling Party Gets Biggest Share of Local Vote

Conservative GERB party of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has mustered around 34.5% of the vote nationally, in the national election held on Sunday, a Gallup exit poll shows.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), the main opposition force, comes second with 17.2% of ballots, followed by the liberal Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) party, at 14.6%

The leaders of the main parliamentary represented parties have voted in the local elections and the referendum, which are taking place in Bulgaria on Sunday.

Prosecuting Authority Resubmits Indictment against ex-Deputy Parliament Speaker Hristo Biserov

The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has resubmitted an indictment against Hristo Biserov, former Deputy Parliament Speaker and former MP from liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS).

The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office submitted the indictment against Biserov on April 9 but on May 5 it was returned for revision.

Protests to Continue as Bulgarian MPs Table Joint Project for Judicial Reform

Two protests will take place in front of the parliament building, as Bulgarian MPs are to debate the judicial reform on Friday.

Citizens participating in the so-called "coffee drinking" protest demand a judicial reform without compromises and are opposed to the joint project, which was agreed by most of the parliamentary represented parties on Thursday.

Bulgarian Parliament Lowers Threshold for Initiating Referendum

The Bulgarian Parliament adopted at second reading on Tuesday the amendments to the law on direct participation of citizens in the government.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has vowed that Health Minister Petar Moskov will withdraw a set of legal amendments paving the way for the privatization of hospitals.

Speaking Wednesday in Parliament, Borisov assured that hospitals would not be removed from the no-privatization list.
