Warring Libyan factions meeting in Tunisia said on Dec. 6 they had reached an agreement to be approved by rival parliaments on ending the political deadlock that has plagued the country since Moamer Kadhafi's overthrow.

The conversation between Mr Blair and Gaddafi was made public as part of the latest emails released from when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State in response to a freedom of information request.

The Greek Coast Guard seized a ship on Tuesday carrying ammunition and weapons near the southern island of Crete, reports the Associated Press. The shipment is believed to be linked to the Islamic State group in Libya however this has neither been confirmed or denied by the local authorities.

At least 30 people died on Aug. 27 when a boat carrying around 200 migrants bound for Europe sank in the Mediterranean off the coast of Libya, the country's coast guard said.

Turkey has introduced visa requirements for Libyans, due to security concerns, the Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Aug. 27. 

Turkey annulled a memorandum of agreement with Libya from 2009 waiving visas for nationals of both countries, with Libyan citizens having to apply for a visa to travel to Turkey as of Sept. 24, Tanju Bilgiç told reporters on Aug. 27. 

The Arab League called Aug. 18 for an "urgent" Arab strategy to militarily back Libya's government against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), but stopped short of endorsing air strikes against the jihadists.

The governments of America, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Britain issued a joint statement on August 16 condemning "barbaric" acts carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant  (ISIL) in Libya.

A Libyan court on July 28 sentenced slain dictator Moamar Kadhafi's son Seif al-Islam and eight other defendants to death for crimes during the 2011 uprising.

Saif al-Islam, a son of Libya's slain leader Col Muammar Gaddafi, has been sentenced to death over war crimes a Libyan court believes he committed during the 2011 uprising.

Eight other senior members of Gaddafi's regime have also been sentenced including former intelligence chief Abdullah Senussi.

Saif al-Islam's death sentence will be performed by a firing squad.

The fighting in civil war-torn Libya has split many families apart, with some survivors now thinking of moving to Turkey.
