Ferry passengers stranded in Alexandroupoli due to engine failure
Hundreds of people were stranded on the port of Alexandroupoli in northern Greece on Wednesday morning after a mechanical failure on a Zante Ferries vessel.
It happened on the Adamantios Korais ferry ahead of the 7 a.m. departure for the islands of Samothraki and Limnos.
The company said that 597 passengers were on board.
Top court annuls ministerial decision blocking OLP from building new shipyard
Greece's highest administrative court, the Council of State (CoE) opened the way for the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) to build a shipyard in the shipbuilding and repair zone at Perama, west of Greece's main port, by annulling an earlier ministerial decision blocking it, it was announced on Wednesday.
Liagos to be appointed Thessaloniki Port president
Athanasios Liagos, the port project manager at state privatization fund TAIPED is to be appointed executive president at Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH), Kathimerini understands.
He will also have to leave the board of Piraeus Port Authority (OLP).

Ferry carrying hundreds of migrants from Lesvos reaches Piraeus
A ferry carrying 249 undocumented migrants from the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos docked at the port of Piraeus at 6.30 a.m. on Monday with another ferry to follow.
Buses were waiting at the port to collect the migrants and transfer them to reception facilities on the mainland.

The winds, reaching up to 9 and 10 on the Beaufort scale, have led to the suspension of the Nissos Samos ferry service from Piraeus to Chios and Mytilini, while the ships leaving from Lavrio to Kea island also remained tied at the port.

Ferries moored due to high winds
Ships remained moored in ports around much of the country on Monday as winds at sea reached up to 9 Beaufort in the Aegean.
