Day-trippers to the fabled canal city of Venice who fail to pay 5 euros ($5.43) to enter the lagoon city's historic center during a time-limited pilot program launching later this month will face fines starting at 10 times the entrance fee, officials said on March 4.

Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei warns against hubris in what he calls "such a troublesome time" with his first glass sculpture, made on the Venetian island of Murano, with the foreboding subtitle: "Memento Mori," Latin for "Remember You Must Die."

"Esma," a short film by Turkish glass artist Felekşan Onar, will premiere during the Venice Glass Week 2019 following the conference "Murano-Istanbul: A glass making journey II."

The Czech Republic has offered to restore the crystal chandeliers inside the Turkish parliament, which was greatly damaged on the night of July 15 when it was bombarded by jets as part of the attempted coup activities. 

The sacred relic of Saint Barbara will be on display at the Greek Orthodox Church of Agia Varvara at the western suburb of Athens, Peristeri, from May 10 through to May 24. The relic will be welcomed by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece during a special ceremony when it arrives in Athens from the Venetian island of Murano.
