The Hittite tablets, consisting of thousands of years of historical documents, will be opened to the world with a digital library, which is currently under construction.

Within the scope of the project, a first in the world, 1,954 Hittite tablets are being deciphered using artificial intelligence.

The archaeological park excavations, carried out by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, have unearthed many movable and non-movable Roman-era artifacts.

The region, where the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage have found historical finds, will be turned into an Archeopark.

A golden spouted jug, which dates back to 4,250 years and belongs to the period of Hattians, one of the ancient civilizations of Anatolia, has been returned to Turkey and now adorns the shelves of the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara.

A welcoming ceremony was held on Oct. 26 at the museum to mark the return of the ancient work.

Works that have been carried out in the ancient site of Alacahöyük, one of the first archaeological excavations of the Republic era, aim to reveal the detailed cultural timeline of the 7,000-year-old city.

Turkish security forces said on July 2 they arrested at least two suspects for smuggling historical artifacts.

Gendarmerie teams conducted a raid at an address in the Altındağ district of Ankara province, according to a statement.

A total of 1,016 coins, a metal horse statue, a ring and two artifacts belonging to the Roman and Byzantine periods were seized.

A total of 4,862 cultural assets were returned to Turkey between 2003 and 2021, according to data given by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Authorities continue to work in coordination with relevant institutions in order to prevent cultural property smuggling and bring back Turkish origin artifacts found abroad.

On a plate hanging on the entrance of a museum, located at the foot of the Ankara Castle in the Turkish capital Ankara, there is the seal of Hittite King IV Tuthalia (1250-1220 B.C). Along with it, "Anatolian Civilizations Museum 1921" is written.

But behind that plate is hidden an extraordinary history of civilization.

Hungarian authorities have returned some 412 historical artifacts of Anatolian origin to Turkey, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry said on Feb. 28.

In a statement, the ministry said the artifacts were seized by Hungarian customs officers and returned to Turkey.

The Alanya Museum, where cultural assets belonging to the Neolithic and Hellenistic periods as well as artifacts from the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuks and Ottoman civilizations are on display, provides information about the ancient Anatolian civilizations.
