Madonna casts Ozark’s Julia Garner to play her in biopic

Madonna is to cast Julia Garner in the lead role of her own biopic, which she is herself directing, it has been reported.

According to Variety, Ozark star Garner was offered the role after an extensive audition process, with contenders reportedly including Florence Pugh, Euphoria's Alexa Demie and Odessa Young.

‘Don Giovanni’ at AKM

Within the scope of the Beyoğlu Cultural Road Festival, the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 'Don Giovanni' opera at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) Theater Stage. One of the masterpieces of opera literature, the performance will be on stage on June 8 at 8 pm.

Ukraine’s Eurovision winners auction trophy for army

Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra, which won the Eurovision this year, has auctioned its trophy for a $900,000 donation to a foundation that helps the Ukrainian army.

The trophy, a large crystal microphone with the song contest's logo, was put up for auction on Facebook.

The bidding ended Saturday night and was won by WhiteBIT, a Ukrainian bitcoin company.

Sex Pistols' punk-rock classic "God Save The Queen" is to get another airing to mark Queen Elizabeth II's upcoming Platinum Jubilee, 45 years after it first scandalized the pop charts.

The anti-royalist anthem, whose acerbic lyrics were written by front man Johnny Rotten, was released in 1977 as the queen celebrated her silver jubilee for 25 years on the throne.

Austrian ‘enfant terrible’ of art Hermann Nitsch dies aged 83

Austrian artist Hermann Nitsch, famous for his paintings and performances using human blood and animal carcasses, has died at age 83, his family said on April 19. Nitsch died at a hospital in Lower Austria province on April 18, his niece told AFP.

"Hermann Nitsch died peacefully at the age of 83 after a serious illness," a statement from the family said.

Acclaimed contemporary composer Janez Matičič dies

Ljubljana – Composer and pianist Janez Matičič, one of Slovenia’s most notable contemporary composers, has died at the age of 95. His oeuvre was centred around piano music, which he himself performed as well. He received numerous awards for his work, including the Prešeren Prize for lifetime achievement.
