Legendary singer passes away
Singer Rena Koumioti, one of the most significant performers of the Greek Neo Kyma (new wave) movement passed away on Monday at the age of 81. Born in Athens to refugee parents from Smyrna and Istanbul, Koumioti made an impact in the 70s performing songs of the likes of composers Mimi Plessas.

Japanese musician, composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, dies
Ryuichi Sakamoto, a world-renowned Japanese musician and actor who composed for Hollywood hits such as "The Last Emperor" and "The Revenant," has died. He was 71.
Japan's recording company Avex said in a statement on April 2 that Sakamoto died on March 28 while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Medee | Athens | April & May
Working with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Canadian Opera Company and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Greek National Opera (nationalopera.gr) is presenting a grand production of Luigi Cherubini's "Medee" on April 25, 27 and 30, and May 2, 4 and 9 at the Stavros Niarchos Hall (snfcc.org).

According to him, the investigation has reason to believe that Trepova brought a box with a bust of Tatarsky, which contained an explosive device, to the cafe.

Nashville school shooter hid seven firearms in house
The 28-year-old who shot dead six people at an elementary school in Nashville was able to buy and conceal multiple weapons in the family home despite evidence of mental health issues, police said Tuesday.
Two nine-year-old girls, a nine-year-old boy, two teachers and a school custodian died in the Monday attack, which recharged the bitter debate over gun rights in the United States.
‘Minkus Night’ in Kadıköy
'Minkus Night,' to be staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet on March 31 and April 1at the Kadıköy Municipality Süreyya Opera, will present a selection of the most difficult and beautiful parts of the ballet works that have an important place in the classical ballet repertoire, inspired by the music of Ludwig Minkus. The event will start at 8:30 pm.

Adele extends Las Vegas residency
Adele announced on March 26 that she's extending her Las Vegas residency with 34 more dates between June and November and also plans to release a concert film.
Saturday night's show was the last performance in the British singer's original "Weekends With Adele" series that covered 34 dates since last November on the Las Vegas Strip.

Duran Duran to reunite with original guitarist Andy Taylor
Duran Duran, the British band who led the New Romantic movement in the 1980s, are to reunite with guitarist Andy Taylor for a new project.
The band said Taylor, who was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer last year, would join them "for a few tracks."
