Mustafa Karadayi

Türkiye's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, initiated an official visit to Bulgaria, commencing on the evening of January 29 with a meeting featuring Mustafa Karadayı, the recently resigned chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.

In a brief meeting, the members of the parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) decided that Delyan Peevski will now serve as the sole chairman of the DPS Parliamentary Group, a position he previously shared with the resigned chairman, Mustafa Karadayi.

Mustafa Karadayi has resigned as chairman of the DPS (Dvijenie za Prava i Svobodi/Movement for Rights and Freedoms), "24 Chasa" reports, citing unofficial sources from the Movement.

DPS did not comment on the information to BNT, but reported that a party meeting is currently being held.

"We think we need to reach out to voters again. Let us enter the next parliament not with hatred, but with our values, goals and proposals for the priorities of the state," Mustafa Karadayi told President Rumen Radev.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) will not support the proposed program, structure and composition of the Council of Ministers, because it has participated in the talks about them. This was announced by DPS leader Mustafa Karadayi. According to him, the Movement will be a constructive opposition and will contribute to solving problems and protecting rights and freedoms.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) will work to restore normalcy in politics. Voters urged the parties to seek maximum agreement to resume dialogue. As in any parliament, there will be ruling and opposition, but constructive political dialogue must be at the heart of the search for the right solution.

A Turkish-origin candidate will contest the presidential elections in Bulgaria for the first time.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) party nominated Mustafa Karadayı to run for president.
