Archaeologists have discovered a fresco in an ancient Pompeii residence that portrays the mythological hunter Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection.
Prosecutor in central Greece opens probe into child deaths
A prosecutor in Lamia, central Greece, has ordered an investigation into the deaths of two children - a 13-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy - after being treated for peritonitis at the city's general hospital and their subsequent transfer to the capital's Aglaia Kyriakou children's hospital.

Dionysus, Pan sculptures found at site of 2,100-year-old goddess Kybele in northern Turkey
Turkish archaelogists have announced a significant discovery in the Kurul Castle in the northern Turkish province of Ordu, hailing that more ancient items, including the sculptures of Dionysus and Pan, have been unearthed at the site where a 2,100-year-old marble mother goddess sculpture of Kybele was found in 2016. Ancient 'gate of hell' in Turkey to open to visitors in September
An ancient Roman "gate to hell," which was believed to be a passage into the underworld in southwestern Turkey, will open to visitors in September.
The beheading of a divine couple
The heads of the vandalized replica statues of Osiris and Isis at the Brexizas archaeological site in Marathon, outside Athens, are seen covered in plastic bags.
Authorities said that vandals smashed the statues last week, decapitating their heads and destroying their faces, hinting it could have been the work of religious fanatics.

Infant dies after falling ill in parked car
A 3-month-old baby died in a parking lot on the national highway connecting Lamia to Athens early on Friday morning.
According to local news reports, the infant was in the car with its young Ukrainian parents and its 3-year-old brother.
The family was heading to Athens and stopped at the parking lot outside Lamia to catch some sleep in their car.

Hot, sunny weather to give way to storms in most parts of Greece
A weather system dubbed Minos by Greek meteorologists is bringing rain, storms and hail to many parts of the country this weekend.
Sweeping in from the west, the system was to hit the islands of the Ionian on Friday, bringing light showers and a drop in temperatures, before spreading east across the rest of Greece.
Thieves blow up ATM in Ekali, flee with cash
Unknown individuals blew up early on Thursday morning an ATM located on the Athens-Lamia national highway, near the Greek capital's northern suburb of Ekali.
The perpetrators took the money and fled. Police has opened an investigation.
