The six-party Nation Alliance has met to discuss the strategy they will follow for the second round of the presidential polls in which Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is running as their joint candidate.

Sinan Oğan from the Ata Alliance who has received five percent of votes in the first round of the presidential elections says he will make his decision on who to support in the run-off vote in a few days.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on May 15 that his alliance will emerge victorious in the May 28 runoff election and achieve historic success.

"The May 14 elections, one of the elections with the highest participation in our history, took place in a festive atmosphere befitting our democracy, with the prudence and foresight of our beloved nation," Erdoğan said.

The election watchdog has officially announced that Türkiye will go to runoff elections to elect the next president following the May 14 polls that saw incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ahead of his main rival, Nation Alliance's candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

The unofficial results of the parliamentary election on May 14 have revealed that the People's Alliance led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) garnered 321 lawmakers as the opposition Nation Alliance remained at 213.

Türkiye has seen one of its most exciting presidential elections with the two strongest candidates current President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nation Alliance's candidate and Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in a neck and neck race.

Opposition Nation Alliance's joint president candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has cast his vote with hopes that "spring will come" to Türkiye as a result of the landmark 2023 presidential and parliamentary polls.

Accompanied by Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Kılıçdaroğlu voted in a school in the Turkish capital Ankara with his wife, Selvi Kılıçdaroğlu.

• More than 64 million Turkish citizens are eligible to vote in the polls. They will choose between three presidential candidates and 36 parties in 87 electoral districts.
• Voters will decide the fate of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party, AKP as they face a united democratic opposition.
