Bulgaria Parliament Elects Audit Office Deputy Heads

Goritsa Grancharova and Toshko Todorov are the new deputy heads of the National Audit Office of Bulgaria followig a Thursday vote in the National Assembly.

Their candidacies were put forward by the new Chair of the national auditing body, Tsvetan Tsvetkov, whose candidacy was approved by Parliament in end-March.

Bulgaria's Parliament conclusively adopted amendments to the National Audit Office Act on Thursday.

Under the changes, the National Audit Office will consist of five instead of nine members.

The headcount of the NAO includes a chair, two deputies, and two members, all of which have a 7-year term in office, according to investor.bg.

Bulgaria's Audit Office Finds Illegal Bill 'Cross-Subsidies'

Illegal cross-subsidies are being practiced between heating and electricity bills in Bulgaria, the National Audit Office has stated in its latest report.

The main auditing body has also found out "no adequate control" is being applied in the electricity and natural gas sectors, according to the website Investor.bg.
