Giannis Antetokounmpo is ESPN’s top pick for fantasy NBA

American sports network ESPN posted its picks for NBA’s fantasy draft for season 2018 and the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo is at the top of the list. “The Greek Freak was the only player in the NBA to average 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in 2016, not bad for a player who has seen his scoring average increase by more than four points per game every season of his career.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo to be in Pana squad against Olympiakos

Thanasis Antetokounmpo returned to Greece after attending his father’s funeral in the US. The small forward will be present for the big match against the green’s arch-rivals Olympiakos at Piraeus on Sunday for the premiere of the Basket League, Greece’s top tier club basketball competition.

His father, Charles, 54, passed away suddenly at his home in Milwaukee from a heart attack last Friday. Giannis will be ready for the opening match against the Indiana Pacers.

 

Antetokounmpo’s father, Charles dies at 54!

Charles Antetokounmpo, the father of NBA superstar Giannis and Panathinaikos forward Thanasis, died last night at his residence in Milwaukee. He was was 54.
Antetokounmpo passed away suddenly on Friday night after suffering a heart attack at his home.
He leaves behind wife Veronica and children Thanasis, Giannis, Kostas Alex and Francis.

The Greek Freak’s girl is a former volleyball player, works for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. The couple have visited Greece on more than one occasion.

Bosphorus Bridge lit in colors of Slovenian flag after Eurobasket win

The Bosphorus Bridge, now known as the July 15 Martyrs Bridge, was illuminated in the colors of the Slovenian flag after the country won its first European basketball title late on Sept. 17 with a 93-85 victory against Serbia.

The FIBA EuroBasket 2017 Final match was held in the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul.

 The developments also got to NBA star Goran Dragić, who put his announced retirement from the national team in question.

Dragić, who is the main candidate for the MVP title at the tournament with an average of 21 points, was asked at the press conference after the historic game if he would reconsider his retirement and answered with: "If Igor stays, I stay."
