NSA bulk phone surveillance ruled illegal by US Court of Appeals
Bulk collection of telephone metadata is unlawful, according to the US Court of Appeals. This decision paves the way for full legal action to be taken against the US’ National Security Agency.
Judges also spoke into the years-long debate over the controversial Patriot Act, which was set in place after and because of the 9/11 attacks.

Monday's shootout outside the headquarters of the US National Security Agency appears to be a 'local criminal matter' and not a terrorist attack, according to a senior US official, NBC News reported.

Guards shot one man dead and seriously wounded a second when the men tried to ram a vehicle into the entrance gate at the Fort Meade, Maryland, headquarters of the National Security Agency, on March 30, CNN reported.
The network cited law enforcement sources.

Two men tried to ram a vehicle through the main gate to the United States National Security Agency headquarters building on Monday, the CNN reported.
NSA police shot one of the men dead and seriously injured the second. Their identities aren't available yet.
Shooting reported at NSA headquarters
According to foreign media reports, a shooting took place on Monday near the headquarters of the National Security Administration, after a vehicle rammed the gates leading into Fort Meade, Maryland.
