ANIMA, the country's largest wildlife rescue center, will be faced with a battle for its survival in 2021, unless a way is found to finance its activities.

Athens 50th in 66 entries in Expat City Ranking
Athens ranks very low in the Expat City Ranking 2020, published on Thursday by InterNations, the world's largest expat community with around 4 million members.
Out of 66 cities in the Expat City Ranking 2020, Athens ranks 50th.
It ranks best in the Local Cost of Living Index (20th) and worst in the Urban Work Life Index (64th).

Thousands stage flower protest in Belarus as EU weighs sanctions
Protesters formed human chains and marched through the streets of Belarus carrying flowers on Aug. 12 in anger at a crackdown by strongman President Alexander Lukashenko that has prompted the European Union to consider new sanctions against Minsk.

Belarus held presidential elections on August 9, and according to preliminary results, President Alexander Lukashenko received 80.08 percent of support.

Niarchos Foundation offers bonus to hospital staff
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation announced Thursday it will provide $8.1 million in bonuses to 5,000 hospital staff in Greece.
This is part of a $31 million first round of grants to reach areas hardest hit by the coronavirus. Greece will be the recipient of $11.9 million of these grants.

Nation sings national anthem from home to mark Children's Day
Turkey on April 23 celebrated the nation's April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day and the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish parliament.
People at 9 p.m. took up their places at the windows and balconies of their homes to sing the national anthem, the Istiklal Marsi (March of Freedom), while waving the Turkish flag.
