Greece wins 3rd place in intl Blue Flag program

Three hundred and ninety five Greek coasts and nine marinas won the international “Blue Flag” programme classification, placing Greece in third amongst 49 countries.

The Blue Flag is a voluntary eco-label awarded to more than 4000 beaches and marinas in 49 countries across Europe, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada and the Caribbean.

Citizens of Stara Zagora Stage Protest Against Minks Farm Construction

The citizens of Stara Zagora have started a protest against the planned construction of a farm, whose main activity will be burning of minks in the nearby village of Madzherito.

Close to 17 000 people have already signed the online petition opposing the project, as reported by bTV.

EU to Implement Policies for Reduction of Plastic Bags Usage

According to the new rules approved Tuesday in the European Parliament, all member states need to reduce the usage of the most commonly used plastic bags.

The new legislation set on ensuring a beneficial situation for all parts, as stated by EU MP Margrete Auken. She is a member of the party of the Greens in Denmark and has been responsible for outlining trends in a report.
