Millions of fish have washed up dead in southeastern Australia in a die-off that authorities and scientists say is caused by depleted oxygen levels in the river after recent floods and hot weather.

Residents of the Outback town of Menindee in New South Wales state complained of a terrible smell from the dead fish.

The climate changes caused by the decrease in water resources, pollution and destruction of nature are causing many extreme weather events, which have increased at record levels in the last eight years nationwide, according to meteorological reports.

The extreme weather events broke records in all years after 2015 and have been increasing since 2018 in Türkiye, reports say.

Saturday's 15-minute power outage across Cyprus was linked to problems caused by the increased use of renewable energy sources, particularly photovoltaic panels, according to Sotos Savva, president of the Association of Scientific Power Generation of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (SEPAIK).

Videos posted to social media showed boats ploughing through a blanket of dead fish smothering the water, with the surface barely visible underneath.
