Turkish Airlines has reported that its net income increased by nearly 45 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2023 to $233 million.

Total revenues of the flag carrier amounted to $4.35 billion in the January-March period, pointing to a healthy 43 percent increase from a year ago.

Turkish Airlines has posted a net income of $737 million in the first half of 2022 with revenues in the second quarter exceeding the levels in 2019.

In the first half of 2019, the carrier reported a net loss of $203 million.

Turkey attracted $5.42 billion in net international direct investment from January to July this year, the Industry and Technology Ministry announced on Sept. 24.

Workers on the Athens metro will be holding a work stoppage on Tuesday morning, which means there will be no service until after 9 a.m.

The walkout, which is designed to protest plans for the company's privatization, will affect the metro's lines 2 and 3, including service to Athens International Airport. It will not, however, affect line 1 of the ISAP electric railway.

Turkey's leading producer of infamous riot control vehicles with water cannons, popularly known as TOMAs, posted record profits and revenue in 2015 - the highest since the company's foundation some 30 years ago.
