My Grandfather’s Memorial Illuminates Holocaust History in Serbia

In April 1941 when the German occupation began in Belgrade, my grandfather's address was Solunska Ulica 8. He lived there with my grandmother Regina, his two younger brothers, and my father, who was two and a half years old. My grandfather worked as a clerk for the electricity company.

Turkey’s lost memory and Germany

It is estimated that in the late 1930s, 45% of Germans were members of the Nazi Party or affiliated to Nazi organizations. Exhibition Highlights Deportation of Croatian Jews in WWII

An exhibition entitled 'If I Forget You… The Holocaust in Croatia 1941-1945/Final Destination Auschwitz' opened in Zagreb on Wednesday, highlighting the persecution of Croatia's Jews with a special emphasis on the fate of those deported to the Nazi-run Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

The Holocaust Must Never be Forgotten

January 27th is the International Holocaust Memorial Day. On that day in 1945 the few survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp were released. This happens in the process of the victory of the Allied troops over Hitler and the entry of the Red Army into the camp. Auschwitz remains a symbol of the Nazi genocide.

UN Files On WWII Made Accessible

The Wiener Library for the Study of Holocaust and Genocide made the UN's files on WWII war crimes more accessible on April 21 by allowing the general public to search an online catalogue of the documents for the first time.

However, people will have to visit the library in London or the US Holocaust Museum to see the actual files.
