Ancient Nemea stadium to reopen
The stadium of Ancient Nemea will reopen on Wednesday to visitors, local MP and Alternate Development and Investments Minister Christos Dimas said on Tuesday.
The 4th-century BC stadium in Corinthia had shut down over a lack of security.

Man dies in traffic accident
A 76-year-old man died on Friday after his car hit a Heavy Goods Vehicle near Nemea in the region of Corinth.
The man was severely injured and was rushed to the Corinth General Hospital where he soon died.
The Nemea police are conducting an investigation into the causes of the accident.

Investigators with the Hellenic Police's (ELAS) department for the protection of cultural heritage and antiquities seized what is believed to be a rare 6th century BC statue fragment during a raid in Corinth, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

Greek top court repeals wine tax
Greece's top administrative court cancelled a widely contested excise tax on wine introduced by the government in 2016, the Greek Wine Federation (GWF) announced on Tuesday.
The tax had been challenged at the Council of State by the Greek Wine Federation, the National Interprofessional Organization of Vine and Wine of Greece (EDOAO), and other wine associations at the start of 2016.

The true face of our culture
It is a recurring nightmare. "Once again, as in every year since 2013, Nemea is about to close due to a lack of guards. The temporary staff will begin to leave early next month, and they will be gone a month from now," Stephen Miller, professor emeritus at the University of California at Berkeley and director emeritus of the Nemea excavations, warned in an open letter on Tuesday.

A School of Ancient Greek Athletics to be opened in Ancient Nemea
The Society for the Revival of the Nemean Games aims to establish and run a unique school of sports, a School of Ancient Greek Athletics.
This school will accept students of all ages and from all over the world and will teach them the practice and philosophy of sports in ancient Greece.
