Dinno Kasalo, documentary filmmaker and master of photography from Bosnia and Herzegovina, has died aged 71. 

Kapidani is cataloguing any documents that he can find about his ancestors. "We've collected documents and testimonies from the elders, aiming to reconstruct their trip by land and sea," Kapidani told BIRN.

Back in the 1870s, Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the most culturally diverse parts of the Balkans, was mired in a multisided conflict.

A memorial event to remember those who went missing during the 1992-95 Bosnian war and to mark the Day of the Disappeared was held in the town of Mostar on Monday by the Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina and war victims' associations from all over the country.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's historic Mostar Bridge was illuminated with the colors of the Turkish flag late on April 21 to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Turkey's parliament.
"The Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey marks its 100th anniversary. We are celebrating with joy," the Turkish Consulate General in Mostar said in a statement.

But Croats are reluctant to do this backbreaking work and local farmers usually employ pickers from neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially from its southern Herzegovina region - mostly Bosnian Croats with dual citizenship.

Noble pen shells are dying in large numbers at the mouth of the River Neretva on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia because of a parasite, scientists and officials are warning.

"Suddenly, at the age of 48, the photojournalist Hrvoje Polan has left us. For nearly three decades, Hrvoje has been dealing with news and documentary photography," the Croatian Journalists' Association announced on Monday.

Polan worked for numerous newspapers and agencies, from satirical Croatian weekly magazine Feral Tribune to Reuters, before going freelance.
