A year and a half ago Ivan Kostov and Georgi Bakalov were arrested at the airport and were sentenced to death for allegedly trafficking 5 kg of amphetamine, found in their luggage.

Police Report Major Drug Lab Bust in Bulgaria's Sliven
A large drug lab in Bulgaria's southeastern city of Sliven has been busted.
According to reports of local police, as cited by the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), the drug lab is believed to have been functioning for six months in a privately owned house.
Turkish Customs Officers Caught BG Driver With 61 kg Heroin
Turkish customs officers apprehended 61 kg of heroin in a Bulgarian truck as it tried to cross the Kapikule border checkpoint into Bulgaria, reports BTA.
Officially the truck was carrying cement from Turkey to Bulgaria. At the checkpoint it turned out that the load was heavier than declared and the customs officers carried out a thorough inspection of the vehicle.
Tobacco Growers to Stage Mass Protest This Week
Bulgaria's tobacco growers producing more than 2 tons will take to the streets on April 24 and 25.
They are demanding that newly imposed quotas on government subsidies depending on tobacco sorts be scrapped, as they believe the latest rules favour a certain group of growers, as CROSS news agency reports.

Tip-off leads police to 2 kilos of heroin near Corinth
A police investigation was launched in Corinth in the northern Peloponnese on Tuesday after officers discovered a parcel containing over 2 kilos of heroin in an abandoned building in the Examilia area.
The law enforcement agents, who were reportedly acting on a tip-off, also confiscated a starting pistol, a precision scale and a pair of gloves.
Bulgarians Busted for Heroin Traffic in Greece
Six Bulgarian citizens have been arrested in Greece with 50 kg of heroin, part of an alleged drug traffic channel between Turkey and Greece.
The six Bulgarians were taken into custody in the eastern city of Alexandroupoli, near the border with Turkey, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.

Bulgaria's Agriculture Minstry to Launch Tobacco Producers Register
Bulgaria's Ministry of Agriculture will establish a register of tobacco producers as part of the package of measures to be introduced in the sector.
As of April 1, farmers can submit registration applications in the regional offices of the Agriculture ministry.
