Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades extended his condolences to the family and friends of a British scientist who died while on holiday on a Greek island.

Greek police confirmed Wednesday that a body found at the bottom of a ravine at the Aegean island of Ikaria belongs to the British scientist who went missing while on holiday.

UN Secretary-General's special envoy Jane Holl Lute expressed hope that an informal meeting between Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish-Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci on Friday will yield positive results.
She was further quoted as saying the UN diplomat will return to the island in the next weeks.
