Child bomber kills up to six in northeast Nigeria

A child bomber killed up to six people on Aug. 25 outside a bus station in the heartland of the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.

Witnesses reported seeing a "young girl" trying to get into the station in the Yobe state capital Damaturu around 7:00 am and refusing to be searched by security guards at the gate before blowing herself up.

13 dead as triple attacks hit northeast Nigeria

At least 13 people were killed July 17 in triple blasts in the northeastern Nigerian city of Damaturu as residents prepared to celebrate the Eid festival marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The attacks, in an area hard hit by the Boko Haram insurgency, came just days before Nigeria's new President Muhammadu Buhari is to meet his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama.

Frigoglass bonds surge on plan to sell glass unit to reduce debt

Bonds of Frigoglass SAIC surged to an eight- month high after the Greek refrigeration supplier said it will sell its glass unit to pay down debt and focus on its core cooling business.

The company?s 250 million euros ($279 million) of 8.25 percent notes due May 2018 rose 4.9 cents on the euro to 100.7 cents, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Nigerian army frees over 200 women and children from the clutches of Boko Haram

Nigerian authorities liberated 234 women and children held by Boko Haram jihadists in the northeastern parts of the country, according to a Nigerian armed forces announcement.

 

These hostages follow the liberation of 500 more hostages in the past few days.
