Mayor says airport name change comments misinterpreted

Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris said his statements at a meeting of the city council on Monday, about renaming the city's Macedonia Airport Nikos Galis, after the Greek basketball legend, were misinterpreted.

Speaking to Skai TV on Tuesday, Boutaris denied he ever said the name should be changed.

Kotzias receives threatening letter

Referring to a threatening letter he received on Thursday, Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said on Friday in a tweet that certain TV stations and papers have slandered him for years so as to make him a target.

"They are annoyed that no one can hold me back," he said, adding that they are moral instigators of these threats.

Parliament Speaker Nikos Voutsis decided on Wednesday not to renew the mandate of Panayiotis Liargovas, the coordinator of the Parliament's Budget Office (PBO). His term expired on November 30.
