Caretaker Cabinet Sets Up Task Force for Operation to Unload Stranded Ship off Bulgarian Coast

A task force has been established to coordinate the unloading of a Panamanian-flagged ship with fertilizers, that ran into cliffs in the Black Sea off the coast of Northern Bulgaria and is threatening to cause a major pollution of the sea water.

The decision for the task force was announced by Transport Minister Hristo Alexiev after the government's weekly meeting Wednesday.

No increased ammonia concentration near Azomures works

Ammonia concentration in Targu Mures was well below the allowed limit, between 01:00hrs and 07:00hrs, the Ministry of the Environment, Waters and Forests (MMAP) wrote on Wednesday on Facebook. The details came after an explosion followed by a fire at the Ammonia 3 plant of the Azomures chemical works on Tuesday night around 01:00hrs.

The Netherlands Cuts Speed Limit on Motorways to 100 km / h

Daytime speed limits on Dutch roads must be lowered to 100 km / h in order for the country to cope with its emissions and nitrogen oxide pollution, Dutch media quoted by economic.bg.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte said it was an "unpleasant measure" but necessary. The existing limit of 130 km / h will still be allowed overnight.

Specifically, the country faces the prospect of being brought before the European Court of Justice for failing to curb the pollution of surface and ground water caused by nitrates from agricultural fertilizers.

Bahrain bank exits investment in Bulgarian fertilizer giant

Bahrain-based First Energy Bank (FEB) has exited its investment in a Bulgarian producer and distributor of fertilizers, Arabian Business reported.
FEB had invested in December 2013 jointly with Borealis in Feboran, an investment vehicle set up in Bulgaria to acquire a 20.3 percent equity stake in Neochim, a company listed on the Sofia Stock exchange.
