Property market becomes stable in Athens

After nearly a decade, the cycle of decline in the property market appears to be closing. In the year's first quarter prices in selected areas of the Greek capital may have shown a decline but this was at a rate below 1 percent on an annual basis, which has been the smallest yearly drop since the outbreak of the financial crisis.

The Post Office: Bulgaria - The Cheapest Beach Holiday Destination

The Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach has come in as the cheapest option in a recent survey by the Post Office, quoted by the Independent.

A basket of 10 typical tourist staples, including food and drink, sun cream and insect repellent, was found to be cheaper at Sunny Beach than at 19 other popular beach destinations in Europe.

Weapons and ammunition found at Xanthi Mosque

Greek authorities are on alert after weapons and ammunition were found at a Mosque in the city of Xanthi in the eastern Macedonia and Thrace regions in the north of Greece. According to reports by newspaper “Kathimerini”, Greek intelligence officers detected the weapons after receiving tips and proceeded to investigate a Mosque in the village of Iliopetra of the Topiros municipality.

Britain Extends Talks to End N. Ireland Stalemate

The British government on Monday gave Northern Ireland's squabbling parties extra time to reach a deal to end their stalemate and form a power-sharing executive, after a deadline to do so expired, AFP reported.

"We now have a short window of opportunity," Northern Ireland minister James Brokenshire said in Belfast, adding that the parties had "a short few weeks".

Third World War is already in progress, says UN advisor

Member of the UN Human Rights Committee's Advisory Council Jean Ziegler thinks that "the Third World War" is already in progress.

In an interview for the Vienna daily Kurier, he pointed out that 54 million people last year died as a consequence of wars, starvation, contaminated water, or "long vanquished epidemics."
