A winter storm has left thousands without electricity in the United States
Bad winter on the east coast of the United States has left thousands of homes without electricity and led to flight cancellations.
Two casualties have been reported in North Carolina since the disaster.

The New York area was hit by the remains of Hurricane "Ida on Thursday morning. Floodwaters halted road, train, and air traffic in New York and New Jersey, leaving behind death and material damage in several U.S. federal states.

Heavy snowfall disrupts life in Istanbul
Heavy snowfall and cold weather conditions disrupted traffic and paralyzed daily life in Istanbul on Feb. 17.
According to the Metropolitan Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), temperatures will rise to seasonal norms on Feb. 18.
"Snow thickness in the high and rural areas of the city reached up to 30 centimeters," said AKOM in a statement.

Heavy snow, winds to get more intense in Istanbul throughout week
Heavy snow and sub-zero winds swept through the northwest of Marmara Sea shoreline over the past weekend, with more snowfall possible in the Thrace region starting from Feb. 15 night, according to the Turkish State Meteorological Service.
Greece blanketed by heaviest snowfall in 12 years
The heaviest snowfall to hit Greece in 12 years triggered power cuts, disrupted transport and trapped people in their homes on Monday.
A cold front swept across the country from Saturday, driving temperatures down to -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) in northern Greece and causing rare snowfall in Athens after a period of unseasonably warm weather.

Snowstorm Rages in the US, at least 3 People were Killed
At least three people were killed in a snowstorm in Alabama, the National Weather Service's local office said in a tweet.
Previously, three people died in Louisiana and one in Texas. The snowstorm is raging for a second day.
"We have now confirmed 3 fatalities near Carrollton in Pickens County" the weather service said and warned the people to take the warnings seriously.
Wind causes power cuts in Thessaloniki
Parts of the city of Thessaloniki in northern Greece suffered temporary power outages on Monday morning.
According to reports, large parts of the city center, coastal districts, as well as the area of Analipsi and the neighborhoods of Saranta Ekklisies and Triandria were affected.
The outages were the result of technical problems after winds caused trees to fall on power cables.

France: Nearly 15,000 Households Are still Without Electricity
In southeastern France, nearly 15,000 households are still without electricity after the heavy snowfall caused power outages four days ago.
The snow caused severe transport problems, and on Friday nearly 300,000 households were left without electricity.
On November 14, heavy snow fell in southeastern France, causing severe traffic disruptions as well as power outages.
