The winter storm in the northeast of the United States caused 17 deaths, Nova Television reported. Moreover, the natural disaster caused chaos in the movement. Nearly 4,000 flights were canceled due to the snow.

Engineers have worked through the night to try to reconnect remaining homes and businesses that lost power during Storm Eleanor on Tuesday night.

Winds gusting up to 100 mph caused flooding, travel disruption and damage to buildings, and fallen trees blocked several roads, reported BBC.

Heavy snowfall in the mountains of the northern Peloponnese on Friday caused numerous problems on the rural road network.

On the Pounta-Kalavryta road, a tour bus carrying 34 passengers and a number of cars were forced to halt for several hours in heavy snowfall as they waited for conditions to clear and allow them to continue their journeys safely.

More than 400 flights were canceled at the airport in Toronto, Canada due to heavy snowfall, BGNESreported.

"Winter has come, time may affect some flights in the morning, do not forget to check your flight before heading to the airport," the airport said.

A strong storm hit Novi Sad around noon on Thursday, resulting in the death of a woman who was killed when a tree feel on her car.

According to forecasts, the storm is expected to reach Belgrade around 14:00 hours CET.

Winter Storm Stella lashed the northeastern United States with sleet and snow on March 14, cancelling thousands of flights, closing schools and shutting stores, knocking out electricity to 200,000 customers but New York and Washington escaped the worst of the weather.

Three people died and ten more were wounded after the roof of a tent collapsed under the pressure of snow in the yard of a popular mosque in Istanbul, reported Focus agency.

A witness to the tragedy stated that the people present had been warned of the danger and that the incident caused panic.

The bad weather conditions cause a lot of problems for the everyone in Europe and this year the usually sunbathed Greece is no exception.

Forecast snowfall and cold weather have badly affected Istanbul's rush-hour traffic, increasing the traffic density to up to 90 percent. 

Breakdowns and small-scale accidents brought traffic to a near halt while a number of cars were slowed to a crawl on major highways. 

The snowfall is forecast to last all night as well as Saturday.

A serious deterioration in the weather conditions will start from Thursday and it will effect especially Northern Greece and then the rest of the country, just days after the previous wave of bad weather.

The phenomena will reach Crete and chances are that it will be snowing simultaneously in Athens, Thessaloniki, Larisa and probably Patra and Agrinio!
