Slovenia gets first significant snowfall this winter
After an unseasonably warm start to the winter, Slovenia finally received noteworthy snowfall on 16 January. While children and winter sport enthusiasts were delighted, motorists were not in the least. Starting in the early morning hours, heavy snowfall wreaked havoc on morning rush-hour traffic and disrupted power supply.
Over 15% state-owned stake in Cetis up for sale
Celje – Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SSH) is seeking binding bids for a 15.4% stake in Cetis, a Celje-based company specialised in printing secure documents such as passports. Potential investors have until 9 September at 1pm to send their binding bids for a total of 30,803 Cetis shares owned by SSH and the state-run fund KAD.

Police investigating murder-suicide near Celje
Celje – Celje police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that took place in the Šentjur area in eastern Slovenia on Monday. Initial findings indicate that a 61-year-old man shot his 64-year-old partner and then shot himself, Milan Vogrinec, chief Celje criminal investigator, told the press on Tuesday.

Drug ring busted, 15 suspects indicted
Celje – Celje police have indicted 15 suspects over 49 counts related to drug trafficking, transport of illegal migrants, classified information leaking and bribery, Celje Criminal Police chief Damijan Turk told the press on Monday.

Gas explosion at Celje bus terminal injures three persons
Celje – An explosion at the main bus station in the city of Celje, north-east of Ljubljana, at around 12.30pm today was caused by a gas leakage and injured three people. While they were all taken to the local hospital, none of them has suffered serious injuries.
