Civil Protection warns of high fire risk
The Civil Protection Ministry has issued a warning regarding a significant risk of fires on Monday. Despite the projected temperature drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius until Wednesday, concerns persist due to the expected strong winds and temperatures reaching 7 Beaufort in the Aegean region.

High risk of fire in five regions on Saturday
With temperatures peaking in the low 40s Celsius on Friday, authorities have issued a fire hazard warning for Saturday.
According to the fire hazard prediction map published by the Civil Protection Agency, five regions are considered to be at very high risk of wildfires, ranking at Level 4 (orange) out of a maximum of 5.

Activists decry illegal horse track in Lesvos’ Natura area
Animal rights activists and concerned citizens decry the illegal transformation of a 900-meter road in a Natura area on the island of Lesvos into a horse racing track.
Although the Environment Ministry was involved in the issue, calling for a "complete ban on any kind of excavation activity in the area," races were held as normal, and attended by local officials.
Refugees rescued from rocky Lesvos shore
Two female refugees were rescued in a remote location in the wider area of Kapi on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos on Sunday morning.
Another nine people were found on Saturday afternoon in the area, but the two women could not be rescued from the rocky shore.
The two women were extricated by police and fire brigade forces and were taken to Mytilene Hospital.

Panagiotopoulos visits military facilities on Limnos island
Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos toured Armed Forces units on Limnos island on Monday and met with local and religious leaders as well.
Specifically, on the North Aegean island the minister paid a visit to the 130 Combat Group and met with readiness personnel at the base of fighter jets and helicopters.
