289 migrants arrived on Greek islands on Friday
The arrival of migrants continued unabated on Friday, with a total of 289 people reaching the islands of the northern Aegean from midnight to 11 a.m., based on data provided by the region's general police directorate.
Of those arrivals, 111 arrived in Lesvos, 33 in Chios and 145 in Samos,

Hundreds of migrants reach Lesvos; Moria bursting at the seams
Another 408 migrants reached the island of Lesvos by Friday noon, of which 73 arrived by sailboat, the general police directorate of the Northern Aegean said in a press release.
The new arrivals raise the total number of migrants living in the overcrowded identification center of Moria to 12,000, when the camp's capacity is for 3,000.
Over 3,400 migrants reached Greece in September
A total of 3,469 migrants arrived at Greece's northern Aegean islands from the start of September till Friday morning, according to figures published by the region's general police directorate.
Breaking down the numbers, 2,078 foreign nationals arrived on Lesvos, 589 on Chios and 802 on Samos since September 1.

Hundreds of migrants arrive on Lesvos
Hundreds of migrants arrived on the eastern Aegean islands of Lesvos over the weekend and in the early hours of Monday, official figures showed.
A total of 227 migrants landed on the island between midnight on Sunday and 9.30 a.m. on Monday, according to the police headquarters for the northern Aegean, with another 228 reaching Lesvos from neighborign Turkey on Saturday and Sunday.

Seven drown in migrant boat sinking off coast of Lesvos
Seven asylum seekers have reportedly drowned while trying to reach the Greek island of Lesvos from Turkey's shores after their boat sank while carrying more than 60 people.
According to reports, Greece's coast guard was alerted at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning to a boat in distress off the island's coast and arrived in time to save 57 passengers.
Temple of Nemesis found under remains of ancient Mytilini theatre
A temple of Nemesis was found under the ancient theatre of Mytilini, on the northeast island of Lesvos, according to a report on the news website Sto Nisi.
The remains of the temple were found in the south entry passage (parodos), under a series of large limestones.

Coast guard who rescued thousands of refugees honored at port
A section of the port on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos is being named after Kyriakos Papadopoulos, the late coast guard officer who distinguished himself during the peak of the refugee crisis in 2015 and 2016 and was credited with more than 5,000 rescues.
Migrant found dead in Moria camp
A 24-year-old man from Cameroon was found dead inside the Moria migrant camp on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos early Tuesday morning, according to state-run news agency ANA-MPA.
The migrant was reportedly found by his friends at 2 a.m. His body was transferred to the hospital in Mytilene where doctors confirmed his death.

Lesvos suspect faces assault charges for brutal attack on Bangladeshi man
A 29-year-old Greek man is due to face a prosecutor on assault and possibly hate crime charges on Wednesday after attacking a Bangladeshi worker with a tire iron on the island of Lesvos over the weekend.
